MEET THE PANEL

Debra Cottrell, Carers Queensland

Debra Cottrell has been the Chief Executive Officer of Carers Queensland for nearly 14 years. Previously, Debra worked in leadership roles in the Victorian state government and the health and community service sectors in NSW & Victoria, for over 30 years, before relocating to Queensland in 2009. Debra is a member of the Queensland Carers Advisory Council, the Queensland Disability Peaks Network and the National Carer Policy Forum. Debra believes that the only way we can truly claim that Australia is the lucky country, is by opening up our places and spaces to people of all abilities, because everyone has the right to social, community and workplace inclusion and to be able to live the best life they can.

Dr Dave Scott, Redland City Council

Dave has extensive experience working with diverse communities to deliver place-based community outcomes in Canada, Australia, and across our region. Dave has a PhD in Social Science from QUT and undertook a tenure as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Winnipeg, Canada specialising in Community-Engaged Scholarship. He has led substantive research programs that measure the impact of ameliorative programs against broader social and economic outcomes.

Lisa Siganto, ImpaQt Qld & Hand Heart Pocket

Lisa has over 20 years’ experience as a social change leader and is passionate about backing social entrepreneurs. She has business expertise in strategy, as well as social impact and value creation for profit-for-purpose businesses and social enterprises, helping to build social capital. Her corporate advisory and consultancy background has made her a confident partnerships broker of government, corporates, start-ups and not-for-profits with philanthropists and social investors. Known for her collaborative approach, Lisa was the founding QLD Director of Social Ventures Australia, among other esteemed positions. She is an experienced company director and is currently on a number of not-for-profit boards. At present she is the Executive Chair of ImpaQt Qld.

Ash Hession, Wesley Mission Queensland

Ash is a corporate performance and quality strategist, currently working as General Manager - Social Impacts and Outcomes with Wesley Mission Queensland. With a decade of leadership experience across not-for-profit, government and private sectors, he has a particular passion in Social Impact evaluation and its translation to business practice. Ash is post graduate qualified in Strategic Leadership and Family Dispute Resolution, and has achieved broader qualifications across business and human services.
